NEW BIBLE STUDY – Have you always wanted to read the ENTIRE BIBLE?

Dr. J. Ellsworth Kalas, is a Methodist Pastor for 38 years and part of Asbury Seminary’s staff as President and Professor of Preaching. He created the GRAND SWEEP series to share is love of the Bible with others.

Short sections of one to two Chapters each make it easy to read a portion every day without feeling overwhelmed.  The plan moves throughout the Bible in Biblical sequence, allowing you to grasp the grand sweep of the scriptures.

The Psalms and Proverbs are scattered throughout the reading as devotional elements.

By the time you finish your 28 weeks of reading, you have read the New Testament from beginning to end.

The book includes:

•          A devotional commentary of each day’s assignment.

•          “Prayer time” each week focuses on our prayer time.

•          “How the drama develops” summarizes the weeks scripture

•          “Seeing though Scripture” invites you to see life through the lens of scripture.

•          “The sum of it all” in a verse that sums up the week’s scripture

Books are available in standard or large print for $20.  Our education committee will take the postage out of their budget.

Our 28-week project will begin in March 2019 and end in September. In 2020, we will start 38 weeks in the Old Testament.

During the journey together:

•          The weekly sermon will reflect the reading materials.

•          You will receive a weekly review from your pastor via email.

•          The weekly Friday Bible Study, 10 am – 11 am, will focus on the week’s activities and readings.

•          On the foyer table is a GRAND SWEEP basket.  In it are order forms… fill out a form and place it in the colored envelope with a check for $20 per book made to “HI Community Church”

An anonymous member of the church has purchased 10 extra books to cover those who need a little extra help.See Ken Brown or Jeff.

Books must be ordered by February 15 (that gives you two months).  You can order your own through Christian Book Distributor.  You are in for a great spiritual experience!
